Diocèse de Joliette
Le diocèse de Joliette est un diocèse de l'Église catholique au Québec au Canada. Son siège épiscopal est la Cathédrale Saint-Charles-Borromée. Il a été érigé canoniquement en 1904 à partir du territoire de l'archidiocèse de Montréal duquel il est maintenant suffragant. En 2016, il comprend 23 paroisses. Depuis 2019, son évêque est Louis Corriveau.
The Diocese of Joliette is a diocese of the Catholic Church in Quebec in Canada. Its episcopal see is Saint-Charles-Borromée Cathedral. It was canonically erected in 1904 from the territory of the Archdiocese of Montreal of which it is now a suffragan. In 2016, it includes 23 parishes. Since 2019, its bishop has been Louis Corriveau.
Louis Corriveau, né le 23 mars 1964 à Sainte-Marie en Beauce au Québec, est un prélat canadien de l'Église catholique. Depuis le 21 mai 2019, il est l'évêque du diocèse de Joliette au Québec. Auparavant, de 2016 à 2019, il était évêque auxiliaire de l'archidiocèse de Québec. Il est prêtre catholique depuis 1990. Remplace Raymond Poisson.
Louis Corriveau, born March 23, 1964, in Sainte-Marie en Beauce, Quebec, is a Canadian prelate of the Catholic Church. Since May 21, 2019, he has been the bishop of the Diocese of Joliette in Quebec. Previously, from 2016 to 2019, he was Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Quebec. He has been a Catholic priest since 1990. Replacing Raymond Poisson.
Le diocèse de Joliette a été érigé canoniquement le 27 janvier 1904 par le pape Pie X. Auparavant, son territoire faisait partie de l'archidiocèse de Montréal. Il comprenait alors les comtés de Joliette, de Berthier et de Montcalm ainsi qu'une partie du comté de L'Assomption. Son premier évêque fut Joseph-Alfred Archambeault qui demeura à cette fonction jusqu'à sa mort le 25 avril 1913.
Le 31 mai 2007, Manawan, qui faisait alors partie du diocèse d'Amos, a été transféré au diocèse de Joliette
The Diocese of Joliette was canonically erected on January 27, 1904, by Pope Pius X. Previously, its territory was part of the Archdiocese of Montreal. It then included the counties of Joliette, Berthier and Montcalm as well as part of the county of L'Assomption. Its first bishop was Joseph-Alfred Archambeault who remained in this position until his death on April 25, 1913.
On May 31, 2007, Manawan, which was then part of the Diocese of Amos, was transferred to the Diocese of Joliette.
